Good morning Carla. Thanks for getting us started.
Good morning to all you other OFFers. Hope you have a good day. My day is almost over. 4 hours to go.
My son's MIL was at the ER for 16 hours yesterday. She has COPD and several other problems. Yesterday she could not get up to walk. After 16 hours in the ER, it was decided she has the flu. I hope they are right.
Things are going okay in my world. They will get better. I love what my former supervisor said when I was speaking to her of the problems going on. "God brought you to it, He will bring you through it."

My hubby and I went to see the bankruptcy lawyer and hubby is more at ease with filing now. We are to start things rolling asap. The lawyer said he wonders why everyone waits so long to file because the sooner you file the less points it takes from your credit so it would take less time to get your number back to good standing. He said he wondered if it was pride? I am not sure it is that alone. I know with me that there is a stigma associated with it and not that I worry what others think but along with that stigma is uncertainty. You are not only uncertain but a little scared. Scared that you will be force to sell everything you worked so hard to acheive and even though it is all just material things it is what you think will make you happy. Just like people think they will be happy if they look a certain way. When in fact there is no way that everyone is going to look like a super model but alot try to. Then they can never live up to that look and are devasted. So happiness isn't what you look like or what you have it is what is inside a person. Of course society looks at what is on the outside most and that is not a good thing. Sorry I am rambling on but now my hubby and I are on the same page so hopefully the blues will be at bay. I want to thank you all for the encouragement and advice. Hope all of you have a GREAT DAY! Michelle
P.S. I promise to keep it shorter next time! LOL!
First, don't worry about how long your post is. It feels better when you get things off of your chest.
I think you hit it on the head. You are scared you are going to lose everything. Have to sell it. Have it repo'd. My attorney did put us at ease with that. We filed ours in 1995 I think. We had a list of creditors. First, the lawyer said we fix it so your car and house are not affected. Okay, we can afford that. Then he said of all the others we had, the only one that would show up in court would be Montgomery Wards. We owed them about $600, with the biggest items being a washer and dryer. He said if they showed up, they would make payment arrangements. Okay. Well, they did not show up, but the only one that did was Kirby vaccuums. So we negotiated a payoff with them. Done. And really, that was it.

Michelle:
Make your posts as long as you want! There is no word limit.
Bankruptcy is very draining. I did Chap. 13 so I was/am paying
everyone back (or everyone that filed). For the most part, you
keep everything, including your house and car (nobody really
wants your old car anyway). And with what you own, they don't
want your clothes and jewelry and TV and stereo. When my brother filed Chap. 7 (in the years before they changed the laws),
he said Sears came to court and negotiated with him, gave him
a credit card with a limit. It already had some on it that he had
to pay but after that, it was clear. But the laws have changed
since they just wiped the slate clean.
Don't feel bad about doing this. These are tough times for
everyone.

morning! it's 62* here already this morning-it has been HOT these last few days and so we have the window ac's going...i am not complaining that it has warmed up but i think april is too early to run ac in ohio!it's an electric bill thing, dontchaknow!
i am up and trying to get functioning!
michelle- i think part of the "stigma" is that we were brought up thinking bankruptcy was a horroble thing and that no one wants to go there...it has become, for many, the only way to survive.....we had looked at it here this winter...
i'm frustrated with going in to work early every day to cover last friday's day off for the conference-it would be alright except now i am missing yesterday-and don't have enough sick time- grrrrr....so i will still be short on my pay-my own doing so i can't really complain but it takes some of the "chipper" out of my attitude!!! we are only allowed to work so many hours each day as well or i could probly get most of it made up before end of day friday --ah well...it is what it is i guess!!!
looking forward to having carla here saturday night!
carolyn (grammylew) i'm hoping you and your sister can work thru all of the "stuff" with/for your mother--that has been on my mind all day yesterday....
today is plasma day-hoping my iron is up enough!!!
well- hugs and prayers --keep diane u close in your hearts today-she is a special sista!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Morning Carla and the gang!
Boy, we had a doosie of a thunderstorm about 3:00 a.m, Gary got up, I was able to go back to sleep for a bit. We got 1 3/4 inches of rain overnight, with more all week.
Gary's job demands him to be a first responder to emergency situations. Today he's going to a meeting with the State Emergency Department to learn about the procedures/plan for the Swine flu should it (or more accurately, when) come to AR. Scary stuff, but at least we'll be well informed with info from the folks that hopefully know what they're talking about. I'll let you know what he learns. Knowledge is power, right?
Work is slow again this week. Oh well, other stuff to do, but it sure won't be shopping...LOL It's going to rain all week anyway, so why be out in it if I don't have to?
Alrighty, then. Hugs to all, special thoughts to Diane, Breanda and Linda

One of my group members has been in the hospital since March following late February WLS. His gout medication caused an esophagial erosion which lead to a massive bleed. It has been a rocky recovery.
I asked if he would like to attend a group meeting. He did so I wheeled him down to group last night. His tale was very interesting to all. Despite the problems, he has absolutely NO REGRETS.
None of the problems were exactly related to WLS. The med could have caused trouble with or without surgery. This just made his food progression and recovery --- unusual. (understatement of the year)
He is down 121 pounds and looks glowing. Today he is going HOME!!!
Special thoughts for Brenda, Diane, and Linda.
Warm hugs and sloppy kisses to our all our Sisters & Brothers.
